NEW MASCOT REQUIRED

Friday March 16, 2018
The race is on to find a new mascot to represent The King’s Lynn Tru Plant Stars Speedway Club.

Your Local Paper (King’s Lynn based) has teamed-up with the club’s promoters to challenge readers to put their design skills to the test and bag a host of great prizes.

The Tru Plant Stars are asking Families or individuals to help create an eye-catching, fun, family-friendly, lovable mascot.

The winning design will be made into a costumed-character to appear on race nights at the Adrian Flux Arena in King’s Lynn. The mascot will also head out to schools and appear at a host of promotional events.

The competition is exclusive to Your Local Paper but the winning entry could even appear on the big screen as some of the club’s fixtures are televised.

The team is preparing to embark on its new season and promoters need a fresh mascot to reflect the family sport.

It can be any colour or type of character – it doesn’t have to be a star but needs to be something which will make people smile.

It could be Wendy the wheel, Sally the speedway squirrel, Roger the racer – these are just examples to give you an idea.

Parents are encouraged to work with their children to come up with a character and give it an appropriate name but individual entries are also very welcome.

Designs can be drawn, generated on computers or even made as a model from craft items. There are bags of prizes to be won. The club has teamed-up with Lynn-based suppliers BookLife, which is offering a total of £1,000 worth of educational books for 5 to 11 year-olds.

The winner and two runners-up will be able to nominate any school to receive the books – £500 worth for the winner and £250 for each of the two runners-up.

The winning family will also receive free entry to the club’s home meetings throughout the year for two adults and all children under 16. The winners will also have their picture taken with the mascot in the centre of the track and get a chance to meet the riders.

The runners-up receive a night of free family speedway including a tour of the pits, where they will meet the celebrity riders.

Entries must be submitted by April 14th and the winner will be announced in Your Local Papers’ April 20 edition. Judges will be promoters Keith ‘Buster’ Chapman, Robin Brundle, Dale Allitt and Alan Taylor, of Your Local Paper.
